Style Influence:60's and 70's Film Posters

Last Thursday Alan advised us on choosing a style influence for our Trailer. He suggested 70's film posters- a great starting point for our style!
I looked up some film posters from the 60's and 70's and even from first glance it is obvious what makes them distinctive. So a few characteristics on these posters:

  • Great use of silhouettes.
  • Contrast between light and darkness.
  • There is normally a background placed behind the oversized characters.
  • Most of them have grey tones with a splatter of a very bright colour like orange, blue, red or green (usually used for the negative space)
  • The titles seem to be part of the posters themselves.
